Daniela Sommer is the acting Chief Financial and Chief Technical Officer at Helmholtz Munich since 12/2021. She is convinced that, especially in challenging times, outstanding science needs outstanding administration. Key aspects for this are to ensure compliance with the financial framework, efficiently organize processes along this framework and thus act as a reliable partner for science, grantors and the Helmholtz Association. It is Daniela’s personal mission to create an empowering work environment at Helmholtz Munich.

Daniela Sommer (*1978), a Business Economist and General Management MBA builds on two decades of successful work in various management and leadership positions. She is an experienced and passionate leader of diverse and international teams. As a consultant to executives of DAX companies and public institutions her work mainly focused on managing change and strategic reorganization.

In her career, she set up business organizations and profit centers. For example, she built and profitably managed a global training organization for an international manufacturer of household appliances. She is an expert for the financial optimization of complex organizations. Examples include the post-merger integration of two companies. As part of her activity as consultant, she also spent three years supporting the Helmholtz Association with development of its Leadership Academy adding to her experience in government-funded research management and science administration.
