Biodiversity Exploratories

The Biodiversity Exploratories are the largest Infrastructure project in Germany funded by the DFG. Dr. Stefanie Schult acts her as the spokesperson for Soil Biology.

Analysing the dynamic feedback loops between land use, microbial diversity and ecosystem services in real landscapes is the overarching goal of our projects in frame of the Biodiversity Exploratories. Our special focus is on the interaction of land use and the capacity to degrade phenolic compounds (FeeLoo), utilize nitrogen from organic nitrogen and mineral associated nitrogen (BE_BioMon) and to understand the overarching interaction of land use intensity and biodiversity on multifunctionality of microbiota (Core Project Microorganisms).
