On March 8th and 9th, 2024, the SPIN2030 Science Festival took place at the Technische Sammlungen Dresden. The HI-MAG had its own stand on both days to make its research accessible to the general public.
The HI-MAG has already taken part in the SPIN2030 kick-off event in February 2023 and once again took the opportunity to present the institute and its three scientific areas of metabolic, obesity and vascular research with six colleagues at the festival. The overarching theme of our presentation this time was "What role do diet, brain and genes play?" and in a meet-a-scientist format, our scientists answered questions from visitors on neurobiology, nutrition and epigenetics. Not all questions were answered, which underlines the importance of our research on this highly relevant societal issue and gives us a number of challenges for the coming years.
With the SPIN2030 campaign, the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) aims to further strengthen Saxony as a science location by 2030 and to network the various institutions with each other and with industry.
To this end, the state will make a total of €4 billion available by the end of the campaign to support universities, research institutions, university medicine and university hospitals.
