About the CarbHealth Study
What is the aim of the study?
In northern and central European countries, including Germany, bread is one of the main sources of carbohydrates in our daily diet. A high wholemeal and fiber content in bread can have a positive effect on our metabolism.
The CarbHealth Study is an international nutrition study. For this study, a bread was developed in Norway that is enriched with a dietary fiber that occurs naturally in oats and barley.
The aim of the CarbHealth Study is to investigate whether the habitual consumption of this newly developed bread has a positive effect on blood sugar, blood lipids and body weight.
Who can participate?
We are looking for the following people:
- Men and women who are slightly or very overweight
- Age: 40-70 years
- You like to eat mixed wheat breads regularly
What happens in this study?
In a preliminary interview (screening), we will check whether you are suitable for participation in the study.
During the study, you will receive our study bread free of charge for 16 weeks. The following examinations will be carried out during three visits to the study center:
- Determination of body measurements
- Measurement of fat and muscle mass
- Blood tests
How much effort is involved and what are my advantages?
You need to plan approx. 60-90 minutes for the appointments at the study center. For the duration of the study, you will be provided with the newly developed study bread free of charge. You will receive a comprehensive medical check-up and detailed feedback on your current state of health.
