Behaviour, Brain & Metabolism
About Our Group
The Research Group Behaviour, Brain & Metabolism aims to improve the understanding of genetic contributions to neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative and rare diseases. To this end we use the mouse as model system and a wide range of established in-vivo behavioural and immunohistochemical brain analysis methods, as well as dietary challenges to unravel metabolic aspects. A particular interest is the application of bioinformatics and machine learning approaches to the large-scale dataset of the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC), focusing on disease-relevant phenotypes. The great advantage of this resource is the comprehensiveness of the phenotyping data from animals of both sexes. This allows for the discovery of unexpected comorbidities and potential sex differences in disease development. We also run the Behavioural Unit of the German Mouse Clinic.
