Dr. Lena Cords Receives Poster Prize at ERS Lung Science Conference 2026

PRM

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Lena Cords has been awarded the Poster Award by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) at the Lung Science Conference 2026, which took place in Estoril, Portugal.

At the conference, Dr. Cords presented her poster entitled “Towards building the human lung perturbation atlas from slice cultures across health and disease.” The work focuses on establishing the first human lung perturbation atlas using human precision‑cut lung slices, providing a powerful experimental platform to systematically investigate lung biology across health and disease conditions.

Dr. Cords leads this research project and is actively involved in carrying out the experimental work. The data analysis is performed in close collaboration with the Theis lab, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the study. The award recognizes both the scientific quality of the project and Dr. Cords’ central role in driving the research forward.

Dr. Cords has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in our lab, and this recognition by the ERS highlights the international relevance and visibility of her work within the respiratory research community.
