01/2025: Michael Schloter was appointed as a member of the DFG's Permanent Commission on Biodiversity


 

Michael Schloter, Head of the Research Unit Comparative Microbiome Analysis at Helmholtz Munich and Professor for Environmental Microbiology at TUM, has been appointed as a member of the DFG's Permanent Commission on Biodiversity from January 2025. The commission prepares important decisions in the field of biodiversity and advises policymakers on their implementation. Therefore, the commission serves as a crucial link between science and society. Goals include minimizing ongoing species loss at all trophic levels. In line with the "One Health" concept, the commission's objectives also hold significant importance for our health.

The importance of biodiversity and the need to act here is becoming increasingly clear, especially now with the UN Conference on Biodiversity in Colombia. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the commission.
