Internal 2025 Epigenetics Retreat

10 & 11 June 2025

 

WHAT:

Epigenetics at Helmholtz Munich consists of nearly 30 groups from various Institutes and Departments operating at different campuses, buildings, and locations.

Each year, we organize a 2-day retreat to bring everyone at all levels (MSc. students, PhD. students, Postdocs and PIs) together and foster a collaborative atmosphere. This retreat is designed to facilitate the exchange of research ideas, results, technological advancements, and new findings. It also encourages scientific interactions, career discussions, and promotes a cohesive, research-driven work culture. 

 

WHY:

The primary goals of this retreat are to: 

  1. Discuss the latest scientific techniques, results, and developments from labs working within the broad field of epigenetics. 
  2. Get to know other Epigenetics groups at Helmholtz.
  3. Encourage collaboration among different groups and institutes.
  4. Obtain feedback from fellow experts in a supportive and focused setting.
  5. Networking.

 

WHEN:

10th and 11th of June 2025. 

The program will include:

- Long Talks (25 min with Q&A included)

- Short Talks (10 min with Q&A included)

- Flash Talks (2.5 min). 

- Poster Session

- Social activities

 

WHO: 

1. Helmholtz Munich Employees: we invite all Helmholtz Munich employees working on epigenetics from the different campuses, insitutes, and labs (Epigenetics @Helmholtz Munich community). The entire community is invited!

2. Guest contract: we are aware that some of our epigenetics group leaders have co-affiliations with other institutions. If you have a guest contract with Helmholtz Munich, you are also invited to participate on the retreat, but please let us know that you hae a guest contract.

Following earlier editions, we expect to have 80-90 participants. 

 

YOUR PARTICIPATION:

We encourage everyone to participate by presenting their work as Oral Presentation and/or Poster. Upon registration, please select your preferred presentation format. Please send us via email (epigenetics@helmholtz-munich.de) your Title and Abtstract, for which you will have more time beyond registration.

The Retreat Organizing Committee will review all submissions and notify applicants of their selection decisions via email in a timely manner. Once the selection process is complete, the order of the presentations will be shared with the presenters in a Final Agenda.

If you are a Postdoc or a PhD. student you can also volunteer as a member of the RETREAT ORGANIZING COMMITTEE to develop valuable skills like project management, decision-making, and teamwork, while connecting with researchers and making the retreat an unforgettable experience! HELENA PhD. students will have a 20 hours certificate towards your title. Contact us if you are interested. 

 

WHERE:

EBZ Pappenheim is in a nice location surrounded by nature, approximately 130 km north of Munich.

For transportation, we will take the Regional Train RB16 on the 10. June from Munich Hauptbahnhof and return at on the 11. June. If you have a Deutschland-Ticket, it will cover your journey. Those without it will need to purchase their own train ticket and apply for reimbursement through their lab.

 

REGISTRATION FEE:

The registration fee is, 90 euros which is covered through the respective lab budget. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please talk to your supervisor before registering to confirm your attendance.

The fee will cover:

- Accommodation

- Breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee breaks during the entire event

- Conference attendance

- Abstract book

- Social activities

The fee will NOT cover:

- Transport: the venue is reachable by Regional train, and thus those with a Deutschland-Ticket will be covered. Those without it will be able to ask for a refund of the ticket (which the lab will cover).

For General Registrations: 24 April at 12h.

For Presentations (Oral or Poster): 12 May at 17h (send us the Title and Abstract via email: epigenetics@helmholtz-munich.de)
