Mechanisms and risk prediction of childhood obesity and cardiometabolic dysfunction in children

Alterations of the cardiovascular system are frequent complications seen in children and adults with obesity. We decipher complexity of factors leading to early progressive childhood obesity with rapid deterioration of metabolic function. For this we integrate genetic predisposition with environmental modifiers and investigate mechanisms with particular focus on the communication of adipose tissue and cardiometabolic system, define predictors and risk factors for progressive metabolic dysfunction and establish preventive and early interventional strategies in children and young adults with obesity.
