Dr. Ali Farnoud

Dr. Ali Farnoud is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Computational Biology (ICB) and previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Lung Biology and Disease (ILBD) at Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU). He worked as a senior development engineer for medical device design and invention at VitroCell GmbH. He was a Ph.D. student at Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) and his Ph.D. was awarded at Heidelberg University in 2018. He previously worked in mechanical and medical device companies modeling and optimizing the drug delivery process of devices (BEKO AG and VitroCell GmbH). He was involved in a POC project and an EU project (Smartnanotox) with an overall budget of 4 million €‚ and 8 million €.

He is involved in several projects with Eyerich AG applying biostatistics and machine learning techniques to analyze deep molecular characterizations of patients with inflammatory skin diseases to ultimately enable precision medicine in this disease segment. Moreover, he implements machine learning and deep learning methods in pharmacometrics (Unite4TB) for PKPD predictions in tuberculosis patients. Furthermore, he is also involved in a molecular tumor board project (precision medicine in pharmacogenomics). 

He is a specialist in mathematical modeling, machine learning, PDE and ODE solvers, and optimization. His current focus is on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmacometrics, inflammatory skin diseases, pharmacogenomics, dosimetry, and drug delivery.
