Diabetes: A novel attempt to unfold diabetes remission through a combinatorial drug treatment in mice

Loss of beta cell differentiation has been thought to be a major determinant for the cause of diabetes. However, the target treatment for beta cell dedifferentiation remains unexplored. This collaborative initiative led by Heiko Lickert, Susanna M. Hofmann, Timo D. Müller (the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD)), Fabian Theis (Helmholtz Zentrum München), Technical University Munich (TUM), as well as InSphero AG and Novo Nordisk have demonstrated a novel combinatorial drug treatment (GLP-1)/estrogen conjugate which contribute to beta-cell regeneration. This work was published in 'Nature Metabolism'.
