Microscopy Core
Key Activities
From Cells to Molecules
To understand the biological processes underlying cellular plasticity, we focus on the molecular processes that define the cell as a single biological unit. Light microscopy is the method of choice because it allows us to observe and analyze single cells down to the scale of cellular compartments, organelles, and single molecules.
From Images to Insights
To obtain biological insight from light microscopy data, we connect advanced light microscopy with state-of-the-art image analysis approaches. Quantitative imaging is a prerequisite for developing and testing hypotheses to decipher the basic mechanisms of cell behavior.
From Systems to Networks
To unravel complex biological networks in the context of the cell as a system, we integrate data obtained over spatial and temporal scales. Imaging data plays a strong part in the development of testable models to dissect structural and functional relationships.
