EQUIPT: European-study on Quantifying Utility of Investment in Protection from Tobacco

EQUIPT conducts comparative effectiveness research in tobacco control. It aims to provide policy makers and stakeholders with information about the economic and wider returns that investing in evidence-based tobacco control including smoking cessation agendas can generate. EQUIPT integrates researchers and stakeholders from Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.

Researchers have further developed existing tools to generate evidence for decision-support, comparing the cost of tobacco control interventions with savings to the local economy and the wider health sector. The new tool developed has been adapted to participating member states thus enabling highly structured analyses of comprehensive tobacco control policies.
