Dr. Vipul Gujrati

Das Gujrati-Labor sucht intelligente Nanomedizin-Lösungen für Probleme an der Schnittstelle von Bioengineering, Chemie, Materialwissenschaft und Pharmakologie.

Dr. Vipul Gujrati is a Research Group Leader at the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) of Helmholtz Munich, Germany. He started his postdoctoral research career under the mentorship of Professor Vasilis Ntziachristos in the fields of Optoacoustic imaging and Theranostics, with a particular emphasis on nano agents for bio-imaging and drug delivery applications.  For the last five years, Dr. Gujrati has been mentoring graduate students and leading different projects, including the European Commission’s H2020 research. Dr. Gujrati holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, specialising in Biomaterials and Synthetic materials for imaging and drug delivery applications. He holds a Master’s in Pharmacology and toxicology from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, India, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Pune, Maharashtra, India. Dr. Gujrati’s work has led to advances in a number of areas, including biomaterials, cell therapy, drug and vaccine delivery, gene therapy, material science, biophotonics, and optoacoustic imaging, and has resulted in high-impact publications. He received the Scientific Excellence Award from CBI-IBMI in 2019, and the Best Thesis Award (Gold Medal) from KAIST in 2014 for his outstanding work demonstrating the applicability of nanomaterials for cancer imaging and therapy.
