Luise Rauer
Junior Group Leader Integrative Data ScienceResearch Areas
During her studies in Human Biology and Public Health, Luise Rauer developed a strong passion for methodology-driven research and disentangling biological signals in complex data. In her PhD, she investigated how methodological choices in both data generation and analysis shape scientific conclusions in microbiome research. She characterized previously underrecognized critical confounders in microbiome data analysis and developed new computational approaches to minimize biases introduced by laboratory contamination and DNA extraction procedures. Her findings emphasized the need for greater standardization and transparency in the field.
Now leading the junior research group "Integrative Data Science", Luise focuses on how microbiome data can be more reliably applied to clinical research questions by developing holistic frameworks to mitigate systematic biases. Her broader mission includes promoting scientific standards and implementing FAIR principles to strengthen the long-term value of microbiome research and related disciplines.
