Within the framework of an art-in-architecture competition, Heike Weber and Walter Eul have created an impressive light installation in our new conference center. The artwork “On the Shoulders of Giants” consists of 812 translucent glass panels suspended on 424 almost invisible aramid threads in the 30-meter vault of the tower.

Seven spotlights set the scene for the work and create a lively interplay of light, shadow and movement. All panels carry the names of scientists and philosophers whose thoughts and findings form the basis for today's research.

The installation invites us to understand research and progress as a collective achievement - as a continuous process that builds on the knowledge of the past and is carried into the future together.

Whether as a break for private reflection or inspiration between meetings - it's worth taking a look up into the conference center tower!
