The building 3522 was constructed between 1972 and 1974 for research in the fields of radiation protection and physics. 

The architecturally refined concept was developed in 2018 through a public procurement process including a design competition.

The former radiation hall was converted into a flexible conference center while preserving its iconic prestressed concrete shell. A new internal structure with seminar rooms, an event hall, and technical facilities was integrated into the existing building.

Construction of the new conference center took place from 2019 until its official opening in May 2025.
