Research Area

Rubén began his PhD at COMI in February 2022, when he started working on the BLIK project (Bavarian Landscapes along Climate Change). The aim of his part of the project is to explore the microbial communities’ diversity of agriculturally exploited and pristine temperate grasslands distributed in different landscapes of Bavaria across slope gradients, and their interactions with aquatic environments. All under a context of land management, Climate Change and One Health, with a view to develop environmental recommendations for farmers to avoid the spread of pathogenic bacteria, excess nutrients and antibiotic resistances across environments. Thus preventing further effects on public health or food chains. To fulfill this task he will handle cutting-edge bioinformatic pipelines and resources to make sense out of massive microbial databases and their correlations with environmental data both on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
