Educational Background and Current Interests

After studying Biology and a Masters in Microbiology, I did my PhD on developing an mRNA expression profiling scheme for differentiating neuronal cells. As a postdoc, I developed and worked with mouse models for the study hematopoietic development and lineage plasticity. After working in a Biotec company on preclinical models and site-specific knock-out mouse models for drug discovery of kinase-analoga, I moved to the New York Blood Center, setting-up and leading their research flow cytometry core. When moving to London I joined the NIHR Biomedical Research Center of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College London, where I newly established and managed one of Europe’s largest and most advanced immune monitoring core facilities, focusing on translational and clinical research. During my time in London I was appointed Senior Lecturer at King’s College, regularly teaching students and postdoctoral fellows.

When moving to Munich I first joined the research group of Prof Dr. Ziegler I participated in setting up a SARS-CoV2 public health screening scheme in children and worked on laboratory automation and digitalization. I was appointed Head of Core Facilities at Helmholtz Munich in May of 2021. My focus and ambition is to provide Helmholtz Munich Scientists with state-of-the-art, reliable and affordable core facility services so they can reach their research goals faster and easier.
