HI-MAG took part in the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2023" in Leipzig
Last Friday, June 23rd, 2023, the “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften” (Long Night of the Sciences) in Leipzig took place live on site(s) for the first time in 5 years and HI-MAG participated this year. At our premises at Philipp-Rosenthal-Str. 27, we took the opportunity to present our obesity research and treatment at the Leipzig site together with our partners from the nutrition team of the University of Leipzig Medical Center, the CRC 1052 and the DZD.
Our varied offer was well received by numerous visitors throughout the evening. At our stations we offered the possibility to put on our obesity suits incl. weight vests to get an insight into a life with obesity and to sensitize for it. Furthermore, it was possible to try out different examinations, which are carried out within the framework of our clinical studies, such as the measurement of the body composition or the blood circulation of the vessels in the hands. Our colleagues from the Leipzig study team of the DZD provided extensive information about type 2 diabetes and determined one's own risk of developing the disease. At the station of the CRC 1052 "Obesity Mechanisms", visitors learned about hidden sugars and the colleagues from the nutrition team of the University of Leipzig Medical Center provided insight into the nutrition therapy of the obesity program.
Considering the number of visitors and the feedback on site, the Long Night of Sciences 2023 was a complete success and we are already looking forward to the next one in 2025!
