Non-invasive Glucose Sensing in Blood

Featured Publication, Bioengineering, IBMI,

Scientists have created a non-invasive technology for measuring glucose levels in blood.

Scientists at Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich have successfully created a non-invasive technology for measuring glucose levels in blood. Their method utilizes optoacoustics to capture ultrasound signals generated within the skin by a specific type of light pulses that target glucose. It could pave the way for the next generation of diabetes management, eliminating the need for needles. Following successful testing of the technology in the laboratory, the next critical step is to conduct a clinical study.
