Vocational training as a animal care taker

Your tasks

As a trainee, you will get to know the different areas of our animal husbandry. You will mainly work with small rodents and fish. In order to broaden your knowledge and experience, you will get to know the correct handling of other animal species during internships of several weeks with our cooperation partners. You will learn how to properly care for, nurse and breed animals. You calculate and prepare feed rations, are responsible for animal house hygiene and determine the health of our animals. In addition, you assist with treatments and interventions in consultation with the trial managers and veterinarians. We attach great importance to respectful and responsible treatment of our laboratory animals.
In addition, all trainees take part in internal training (Word, Excel, PP courses), training on learning and communication strategies, and team training. 

Your qualification

  • You have a qualified secondary school leaving certificate or intermediate school leaving certificate
  • good grades in science subjects
  • manual dexterity
  • high degree of reliability and sense of responsibility
  • a strong ability to work in a team
