Career
Dr. Maryna Bondarava studied Immunology at the International State Sakharov Environmental University in Minsk, Belarus. In 2008, she received her PhD in Biology at the Ruhr University Bochum and Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, Dortmund, Germany. After gaining valuable experience in industry, Maryna Bondarava returned to academia to conduct research in the field of Regenerative Medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. In her field, Ms. Bondarava was responsible for preclinical studies and collaborative projects with industrial partners involved in the development of new therapies for bone and cartilage regeneration. In 2017, Maryna Bondarava left active research and took over the science management at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity at the Helmholtz Munich. In this position, Dr. Bondarava is responsible in particular for projects management and institute recourses. In addition to leading the scientific management team, her responsibilities include representing the institute's management in administrative matters and coordinating communication between the scientific community, national and international funding agencies, and Helmholtz Munich departments. Maryna Bondarava is currently also coordinating scientific cooperation with Novo Nordisk for the development of new therapeutic approaches against metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity.
