Job Opportunities

Stay tuned here for announcements of opportunities at the IFE!

Master Project - Schneider lab - Deciphering the function of novel chromatin modifications - please send enquiries to Robert Schneider

Our aim at the IFE is to understand how covalent modifications of chromatin regulate cellular functions and their deregulation in cancer or diabetes. We have a strong focus on novel types and sites of histone modifications and their role in disease processes (see for examples: Tropberger et al., Cell 2013; di Cerbo et al., eLife 2014; Kebede et al., NSMB 2017). We want to identify novel pathways regulating chromatin function in order to discover new therapy targets and unique diagnostic or prognostic markers.

The project for the master student will focus on how chromatin modifications can regulate genome function. It will be performed together with an experienced supervisor. This project includes the possibility to be part of a very enthusiastic and international team, learn state of the art technologies (such as imaging techniques and different types of ChIP assays) and to get insights in the fascinating field of chromatin biology.

Experience in at least 2 of the following techniques is essential:
• Mammalian tissue culture
• Molecular Cloning
• Protein Purification
• Basic Microscopy

Please submit your application including a motivation letter, detailed CV, copies of your certificates, and contact details of 1 referee to:

Robert Schneider
E-mail: robert.schneider@helmholtz-muenchen.de

Dr. Kurt Schmoller is looking for enthusiastic PhD and Postdocs. Interested individuals should send enquiries to E-mail

Dr. Daphne Cabianca is currently looking for a highly motivated PhD student and a Postdoc to decipher the function of nuclear architecture in response to environmental stress. If interested, you can contact her via email.
