DiMelli Study

The DiMelli study (Diabetes Mellitus Incidence Cohort Registry) was established in 2009 as a Bavarian Diabetes Registry cohort to investigate the frequency and characteristics of diabetes types in children and adolescents in Bavaria.

The collected data, blood parameters, and blood samples will provide information on the incidence of the individual diabetes types in Bavaria, and investigate the influence of various factors such as obesity, arterial hypertension or socioeconomic status on the disease. Until 2018, children, adolescents, and young adults from Bavaria could participate in the study if they were under 20 years of age at the time of diagnosis and if the diagnosis was no longer than six months ago.

Within the BabyDiab and DiMelli study, we collected extensive data and samples to investigate the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases.
