TeenDiab Study

The TeenDiab study was established in 2008 to investigate the period of puberty in the natural course of type 1 diabetes development.

Until 2016 the TeenDiab study recruited over 500 children aged 6 to 10 years and who have a first degree relative (mother, father, or sibling) with type 1 diabetes.

All TeenDiab children were followed 6-12-monthly until the age of 18 years for the development of islet autoimmunity and type 1 diabetes. Environmental factors like diet, physical activity, psychosocial factors, pubertal development and growth will be investigated in the TeenDiab study.
