Teaching

We offer a wide variety of high quality statistical courses at different levels.

In the last three years, we have taught about one hundred courses and are continuously developing new and exciting material. Our teaching philosophy combines self-learning with explanatory sessions so that you can easily apply your new knowledge to your own research questions. We also develop courses upon request. Our trainers are experienced, qualified and friendly research scientists and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Our target group

The courses are open for all staff members of Helmholtz Munich and persons with guest contracts. They are part of the program of the HR Development department* and the HELENA program.

We have partnered with the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA) and offer courses to members of other Helmholtz centers.

We also offer courses for externals. Please contact us for details. If you want to order a complete course, e.g. for your institute, please fill out the request form and send it to us.

Our Structure

We coordinate our courses with those of the Bioinformatics Unit of the Core Facility Genomics (CF-GEN) and the Single Cell Unit of the Computation Health Center.

We strongly recommend to first participate in an Introduction to R course before participating in an Introduction to Statistics course.

Please check the according course descriptions for the formal requirements of each course.

The courses Introduction to RIntroduction to Statistics and Reproducible and Open Research are mandatory for new doctoral researchers and PostDocs. Details on this regulation can be found here.

For employees of Helmholtz Munich, we offer courses together with the HR development department.

In 2023 we plan courses in an online format as well as courses on campus. Courses are scheduled either as full days or half days. The corresponding dates and further details are described in this document. Remarks on regulatory aspects of both online and on campus courses are given here*.

The courses will open for registration staggered throughout the year. Please contact Elmar Spiegel for registration.
