Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (hiPSC) Core Facility

  • The Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (hiPSC) Core Facility is located at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich, Neuherberg campus.

The primary goal of the unit is to serve the Helmholtz Center research community by producing patient iPSC lines. In addition, we stock established human ESC and iPSC lines, and train scientists in maintenance and differentiation of human PSCs.

    A further goal of the hiPS Cell Unit is to manufacture human iPSCs according to clinical standards as a starting material for future clinical applications. This collaborative project is headed by Dr. Drukker, includes the labs of Prof. Torsten Tonn (TU Dresden), the GMP facility headed by Prof. Martin Hildebrandt in the TU Munich, Dr. Sebastian Diecke from MDC Berlin, and Drs. Sebastian Knöbel and Andreas Bosio from miltenyibiotec, and is funded by the BMBF.

    In addition, the facilities of the hiPS Cell Unit are being upgraded for ISO standards to allow derivation, banking and analysis of genomic integrity of maintained and newly derived cell lines. The same services are provided to external researchers and collaborators.
