Horváth works on computational methods for analyzing biological processes at the single-cell level. His research integrates biology, microscopy, and AI-based image analysis to better understand molecular mechanisms in cells and to support the development of personalized therapies for diseases such as cancer.

In his new role, Péter Horváth is expected to focus on strengthening and further developing Hungary’s research and innovation ecosystem. Key priorities include establishing long-term, predictable research funding, improving career pathways for scientists, and fostering closer collaboration between academia, start-ups, industry, and technology companies.
In his initial statement following the appointment, Horváth emphasized the need to address current challenges in the research sector swiftly. Scientific excellence, transparency, fairness, and international competitiveness are set to be the guiding principles of his work.
