Project

Helen is interested in the cell-specific role of phosphodiesterases (PDEs) in regulating cellular metabolism. By using animal models as well as primary human and mouse adipocytes, she investigates the involvement of PDEs in the regulation of thermogenesis and energy expenditure.

In addition, Helen researches the potential of human primary adipocytes as an important tool to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical applications. She uses mature adipocytes                                                                                                                 to translate findings made in animal models or                                                                                                                       murine cell lines onto human cells.
