The European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) strengthens transparency in relation to government advertising in the European Union. Public institutions such as universities, hospitals and public authorities are required to disclose their annual expenditure on advertising and information campaigns.

In accordance with the transparency requirement under Article 25(2) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1083 (European Media Freedom Act – EMFA), Helmholtz Zentrum München publishes an annual overview of its expenditure on government advertising.

The information covers all paid advertising and information activities commissioned through media service providers or online platforms, including advertisements, radio or TV spots, social media campaigns (e.g. sponsored posts and reach campaigns), and influencer collaborations.
