Former PRM Member Dr. Yang Establishes His Independent Research Group in China

PRM

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Lin Yang, a long-standing member of PRM and LHI, has officially started his own research group in China as of January 2026. Over the course of his postdoctoral work in Herbert Schiller’s group at Helmholtz Munich, Dr. Yang made significant contributions to lung research and became a highly valuable member of PRM. His scientific achievements, collaborative mindset, and commitment to the field have left a lasting mark on colleagues and collaborators. In his farewell message, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support and mentorship he received over more than a decade, noting that these experiences profoundly shaped his scientific journey and personal development.

Dr. Yang is now establishing the Intelligent Respiratory and Inhalation Medicine Lab (IRIM Lab) in Nanchang, China, where he will lead an independent research program at the interface of lung biology, inhalation medicine, and translational therapeutics. He is jointly affiliated with the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and the School of Pharmacy / Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Jiangxi Medical College, Nanchang University, China.

According to his lab webpage (https://ibi.ncu.edu.cn/en/FACULTY/Research_Groups/Yang_Lin_Lab.htm), the IRIM Lab seeks to build a next-generation framework for personalized inhalation medicine, integrating mechanistic biology, AI-powered quantitative imaging, and inhalation engineering. Through this approach, the lab aims to bridge basic discovery and clinical translation and to develop more precise, effective, and clinically actionable therapies for respiratory disease. We are confident that his continued dedication to advancing the field will make him an important scientific partner within our broader network for years to come.

We warmly congratulate Dr. Lin Yang on this important milestone and wish him every success in this exciting new role.
