EAACI Fellow Award for Carsten Schmidt-Weber
Carsten Schmidt-Weber, Director of the Institute of Allergy Research at Helmholtz Munich, has been honored with the EAACI Clinical Fellow Award 2025. The prestigious European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) presented him with the award on June 13, 2025, during their annual meeting in Glasgow.
The title of “EAACI Fellow” recognizes members who have demonstrated outstanding scientific achievements in the fields of allergy and clinical immunology. Selection is based on, among other criteria, a candidate’s publication record and significant contributions to the field. EAACI Fellows will form an elite advisory board for the Academy in the coming years.
Carsten Schmidt-Weber’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of allergic inflammation with the aim of developing new therapies – especially for children with asthma. His current work includes the development of innovative drugs for early intervention and prevention. He also serves as Director of the Center for Allergy and Environment (ZAUM), a joint initiative of Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). As a member of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL), ZAUM plays a vital role in translating basic research findings into clinical applications.
“The EAACI Fellow Award is both a valued recognition and a motivation to further advance our allergy research – so that we can provide even more targeted help to people suffering from allergies in the future,” says Schmidt-Weber.
