diabinfo.de with Multilingual Content at the ‘Diabetes Herbsttagung’ 2023

Public Engagement,

The national diabetes information portal diabinfo.de will be represented twice this year at the Diabetes Autumn Conference (Diabetes Herbsttagung) of the German Diabetes Association in cooperation with the German Society for Nutritional Medicine in Leipzig on November 17-18: with a booth and with a talk in the session "Update: Targeted Prevention of Prediabetes" (“Update: Prädiabetes gezielt vorbeugen”).

The portal offers a large amount of its content from the areas of "Preventing diabetes" and "Living with diabetes" in five different languages. In addition to the materials already available in Turkish, Russian, Polish, and Ukrainian, the range has recently been expanded to include English. With the addition of the English-language offerings, the national diabetes information portal is taking the next step towards reaching even more non-German-speaking people.

New: In-depth Information in English

At https://www.diabinfo.de/en/, individuals with an increased risk of diabetes, type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes as well as relatives and interested parties can find comprehensive information in English. The content is also useful for everyday medical practice: either for direct communication with people with diabetes who speak English or for recommending the site to patients.

diabinfo.de offers background information on a wide range of diabetes-related topics in its English-language part. In the "Preventing Diabetes" section, interested parties can find out more about what can be done to prevent diabetes, which factors increase the risk of diabetes and how to motivate yourself to lead a balanced lifestyle. The "Living with Diabetes" pages provide information on the basics of the disease, treatment, complications, and everyday life with diabetes.

In the media library, videos briefly and clearly explain important questions about the disease - now also with English subtitles. The "Diabetes A-Z" section brings complex technical terms to the point. In the download area, interested users can find practical infographics, emergency documents and training plans in English.
