When immune system killer cells detect signs of infection, some of them rapidly multiply, forming a large defensive force to fight the pathogen. However, this response does not occur in every killer cell. What determines whether a cell will proliferate or not? Researchers from Helmholtz Munich, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), and University Hospital Erlangen (UKER) have investigated this question.
