Leontine Sandforth will receive funding for her project “Tirzepatide on brain-body interaction: Understanding underlying mechanisms, non-responsiveness and sex-specific differences”.
The project focuses on the mechanisms underlying modern incretin-based therapies. In particular, Sandforth aims to investigate how tirzepatide affects communication between the brain and the body and influences energy metabolism. The research will also address why individuals may respond differently to treatment and explore potential sex-specific differences.
With the DZD Young Talent Program, the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) supports innovative research ideas at an early career stage and strengthens the next generation of researchers in diabetes and metabolism research. The program is intended to provide new impetus for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diabetes and its complications.
