Exercise Explained in an Understandable Way - Suitable for Everyday Life
The new video series is aimed at individuals who want to take preventive action for their health as well as people with type 2 diabetes. It combines medically sound information with exercises that are easy to do at home, in the office, or on the go.
The series begins with two explanatory videos featuring Prof. Christine Joisten, a specialist in general medicine with a focus on sports medicine at the German Sport University Cologne. In the videos, she explains why exercise is so important for health and how even small changes can have a positive impact.
Scientific studies show that even a small amount of additional exercise in everyday life can produce measurable effects. Just a moderate increase in daily activity can help to improve health—especially in people who have previously been less active.
First Exercise Videos: An Easy Way to Get Started at Home
In addition to the explanatory videos, the first exercise videos are available to follow along with. The exercises are specifically designed for everyday use and can be performed without special equipment or prior knowledge.
The 5–10-minute videos include, among other things:
- Mobilizing exercises in a seated position to promote mobility and activation after long periods of sitting
- Simple standing exercises to activate the whole body and improve coordination and circulation
The exercises can be customized and performed at your own pace. The aim is to incorporate low-threshold exercise into everyday life—regardless of fitness level.
More Content to Follow
The newly released videos are the first in a multi-part series. In the coming months, further exercise videos will be added, focusing on different areas such as flexibility, strength, and endurance.
A Collaborative Project With a Scientific Basis
The video series is published by diabinfo.de, a joint service of Helmholtz Munich, the German Diabetes Center (DDZ), and the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD).
The videos were developed and produced in close cooperation with the German Sport University Cologne. Under the expert guidance of Prof. Christine Joisten, the latest scientific findings from physical activity and health research are incorporated into the content.
