Translational Diabetology

My research group is driven by a curiosity to understand how early-stage type 2 diabetes develops at the molecular level and what this can tell us about potential new therapeutic approaches. The investigation of different plasma membrane transporters as target structures for therapeutic interventions in diabetes, obesity and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease are exemplary studies on this topic.  

We are also interested in the hormonal regulation of metabolism and how this influences the ageing process.

We conduct preclinical and clinical studies in the clinical study center.
