Girls’ Day 2025: A Day as a Scientist
On Girls’ Day 2025, Helmholtz Munich opens its laboratories to welcome 25 female students for an exciting day as young researchers. Three of our research institutes provide exclusive insights into their work, demonstrating how science helps us better understand diseases and develop new therapies.
At the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging, the students learn how bioengineering contributes to understanding and treating diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. They discover how scientists combine biological and technical methods to develop new medical technologies. In the lab, they actively participate and experience bioengineering research firsthand.
The teams from the Institute of Translational Genomics and AI for Health demonstrate how they use artificial intelligence (AI) and computational analyses to work with imaging data and genetic information, uncovering biological connections. The students explore how data is collected, analyzed, and utilized to gain deeper insights into the human body, enhance disease understanding, and develop new therapies. Together with scientists, they analyze real research data and discover the exciting findings hidden within.
Girls’ Day 2025 at Helmholtz Munich is an inspiring experience for everyone involved – and perhaps the first step toward a career in science for some of the participants.
